Eureka Flags of Origin

Research By: Anne Biggs-Sunter
Research Historian, Ballarat University

It has been argued that the discovery of gold brought a mass influx of new nationalities, cultures and ideas into Australia.  This is false.  The proof is laid out below.

By comparing the Convict contributing Cultures with the Eureka contributing Cultures it can be shown that in addition to the native born Australians, there were in fact only two non-Convict Cultures who fought at Eureka.  These were Switzerland, Spain.

Please note that Corsica and Prussia do not have modern flags and so they are included with the the modern states of Germany and France.

The remaining fifteen nationalities who fought at Eureka all arrived in Australia wearing English Imperial slave chains; and were here long before the discovery of gold.

Please sign up as a supporter of the Native Australian Culture, and of the work the Eureka Council is trying to do in preserving, teaching, enriching and celebrating that wonderful freedom and way of life.

We are not asking for your money in these hard times, but we are looking for your active support.  We are also looking for activists who love their country, and our Native-Anzac Australian Culture enough to want to write letters, make phone calls, and stir the possum generally for the purpose of seeing our Native Australian heritage and culture preserved and enriched.  When we work together in a co-ordinated way, we can make a difference for the better.  Sign up here
