Affairies at the Bottom of the Garden

Joan Vaughan Taylor

Springtime fairy is dressed in green
In suburbia frequently seen
Lurking in shadow behind your home
Having it off with the garden gnome.

Summer fairy goes in for red.
She fell in love in the potting shed.
Turn over the compost, and you will spot’er
Wearing a head-dress of terra-cotta.

Autumn fairy wears yellow and brown
Just like the leaves that have fallen down.
Her reputation you couldn’t mistake
In that sordid affair with the garden rake.

Winter Fairy’s arrayed in white
Viewed through the fence, she’s a love-bra sight
She tried to elope with the garden hose
But temperatures fell and equipment froze.

Believing in fairies is one good reason
For tending your garden in every season
Those garden fairies are really true.
But they only appear to the favoured few.

We are not asking for your money in these hard times, but we are looking for your active support.  We are also looking for activists who love their country, and our Native-Anzac Australian Culture enough to want to write letters, make phone calls, and stir the possum generally for the purpose of seeing our Native Australian heritage and culture preserved and enriched.  When we work together in a co-ordinated way, we can make a difference for the better.  Sign up here
