Biters

By Glenn Beaver

Toebiters

Small and noisy
Smiling - is it wind?
Crying - is it colic?
You create their life
They recreate yours.
Tired overstretched women
Confused frustrated men
Was it really like this for our parents?
Aren’t babies wonderful?
Isn’t love a funny thing.

Anklebiters

Energy and chaos
They have expectations of you
They want to know ‘why?’
Life’s a game
They need to know the rules
You need to remember them
Have the interpretations changed?
Aren't children challenging?
Isn’t love a funny thing.

Kneebiters

Daring and uncertain
You lay your dreams on them
And because you have told them
They believe it will be so.
You rationalise shortcomings
Yours and theirs
And gradually come to reality
Aren’t kids great?
Isn’t love a funny thing.

Gutbiters

Puberty and feelings
They don’t want to share your life
They expect you to live theirs.
They want to know ‘why not?’
They measure you against their dreams
And naturally find you wanting
They reject your judgement
But still want your praise
Aren’t kids frustrating?
Isn’t love a funny thing.

Headbiters

Angst and scorn
They reject your rules
As well as your dreams.
Their saying nothing says it all.
Like young eagles, they fly on their own
But still look to be fed.
They are vulnerable
And you look out for them
Aren’t kids a worry?
Isn’t love a funny thing.

We are not asking for your money in these hard times, but we are looking for your active support.  We are also looking for activists who love their country, and our Native-Anzac Australian Culture enough to want to write letters, make phone calls, and stir the possum generally for the purpose of seeing our Native Australian heritage and culture preserved and enriched.  When we work together in a co-ordinated way, we can make a difference for the better.  Sign up here
